The BMG summer training is always a week I look forward to each year, spending time training very talented climbers to become summer rock guides at the first stage of their BMG training to become IFMGA Mountain Guides.
We had a great inspiring week, with invaluable input from Stuart McAleese and helped by the fantastic weather here in the Lakes!
Paul Swail leading Muscle Crack, Raven Crag - Langdale
Tom Grant leading Centipede, Raven Crag - Langdale
John McCune leading the first pitch of Pluto, Raven Crag - Langdale
John McCune low down on Trilogy, Raven Crag - Langdale
John climbing through the tough lower crux on Trilogy, Raven Crag
John McCune looking very strong through the upper crux while on-sighting Trilogy, Raven Crag - Langdale.
Tamsin Gay leading Troutdale Pinnacle, Black Crag - Borrowdale
Tamsin Gay enjoying Aaros, Shepherds Crag - Borrowdale
It's a varied week giving instruction and coaching on the main aspects of summer rock guiding, from a guided climbing day which we had in Langdale, to a short roping mountain day up on Dow Crag near Coniston, to a Teaching day in Borrowdale and finally to a day pulling everything together where we climbed on White Ghyll and Gimmer Crag in Langdale.
The week prepares them not only for their assessment in September which then leads onto their winter training in Scotland and then after that their Alpine training but also working with clients at this level.
It was a great week and now even more inspired to make the best of the weather we're having at the moment!
Safe climbing
Ade
