We headed up the Valle di Gressoney looking for shelter, It was a day for the skiers!
We've been pushed high, as it's been warm at lower altitudes and many routes haven't formed, now we're squeezed onto very sheltered ice as we're waist deep in new snow!
We headed up to Cascade Punta Jolanda - we'd scoped the route yesterday and it looked in great condition and safe from any hazards above.
David arriving at the belay at the top of the first pitch on Punta Jolanda, Gressoney.
Enjoying the challenges of heavy spindrift and the difficult ice today - David topping out on Punta Jolanda, Gressoney.
Village of Gressoney Saint Jean today
The central square of Gressoney Saint Jean today, where back in the 13th Century the Walser people came to settle
An outside store at our hotel in Gressoney - the sign of the door pretty much translates to 'Attention, you may get a massive load of snow on your head if your not careful!'
There could be a change of venue tomorrow as there is just too much snow, so we're heading out for a beer to think about it!!
Safe climbing
Ade
